The Kaibab Plateau-North Rim Parkway is a gorgeous drive across the "mountain lying down" ("kaibab" in Paiute) between Jacob Lake and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon in Grand Canyon National Park. This route through the Kaibab National Forest is one of those roads that doesn't see a snow plow so you'll want to wait for spring at least to enjoy the journey. For hikers, the Arizona Trail parallels the road just to the east. And a bit further east than that is the Saddle Mountain Wilderness. The northern terminus of the Kaibab Plateau-North Rim Parkway is in Jacob Lake at the intersection with US 89A, the Fredonia-Vermilion Cliffs Scenic Road. |
