

Garfield County is located on the western slope of the Rocky Mountains in central western Colorado. Some good skiing, great hot springs and lots of natural gas exploration and development. The Rifle area is just booming with all the drilling, well servicing and pipeline crews around town.
Garfield County was named in honor of James A, Garfield, President of the United States at the time when the county was formed. Garfield County contains 2,947 square miles of land and 9 square miles of water. The county seat is Glenwood Springs.
