The Pioneer Museum in Gunnison, Colorado
The Outdoor Displays

At the Pioneer Museum:

  • Gunnison's first Post Office
  • D & RG Narrow Gauge Train, Water Tank & Depot
  • Two rural schoolhouses
  • House with early-day furnishings
  • Antique Car Museum
  • Log Cabin Chapel
  • Authentic Barn with Ranch Displays
  • Carpenter Shop, Blacksmith Shop, Print Shop... and so much more!

The Pioneer Museum is comprised of 12 buildings: from the main museum building full of displays to the 2 rural schoolhouses to the log cabins that were once line shacks and pioneer chapels. And in between the buildings are areas with some great outdoor displays: things like sawmill blades, water well drillers, cattle chutes, old steam equipment, etc. Everywhere you go there's something different and the layout is just great. This may only be a 6-acre site but they have room for lots more stuff.
