This moderately difficult trail ascends the southwestern slopes of the West Spanish Peak. The trail runs about 2 miles before it ends at the junction with the West Peak Trail in the Spanish Peaks Wilderness.
Access: The trailhead is located a couple miles downhill on the southeastern side of Cordova Pass, off County Road 46.0. Notes: The Apishapa Trail climbs through heavy alpine forest to its junction with the Wahatoya Trail about 1.5 miles from the Apishapa Trailhead. Another half-mile on the Apishapa brings you to the West Peak Trail near the foot of the rock face that rises above treeline. "Apishapa" translates from the Native American word for "stinky water."
