This nice slab of granite rises just the other side of the second tunnel. The old railroad bed hugged this pretty tight because of the downward slope to the right. An interesting thing about traveling this road is that I never saw much in the way of rockfall debris. There were a couple of little things here and there but no boulders. I live in sandstone country and we get these boulders the size of a car coming down sometimes. We also get a lot of axle-busters but I didn't see anything like that the entire length of this road, not even pushed over the side in places where I stopped and looked for it. |
