Jumbles, piles, chunks, and mounds of rock. Obviously, the rock was here first and everything else is "johnny-come-lately." (1.8 billion years ago when this rock first hardened, there were no living creatures on the planet yet. The atmosphere was still full of poisonous gases and the water was acidic.) Maybe you can start to see how, at this point, I'd begun to feel almost jaded by the scenery and the sheer amount and variety of exposed granite. If I wasn't still trying to figure out the geological and environmental processes that created and shaped all this countryside, who knows... |
