That might be Straub Mountain (10,052') in the background. The countryside keeps its rugged character with lots of exposed rock while thise famous railroad bed cum dirt road continues its relentless but gentle climb into the heights. Notice that this granite is more rounded and less red: testament to there being less feldspar in its makeup. I still hadn't seen any sign of big game but there's probably some elk and bighorn sheep up here somewhere. I don't know who owns the land but it's not BLM or National Forest for most of the rest of the way into Victor. |
