Loveland Ski Area is located almost at the eastern mouth of the Eisenhower Tunnel on the I-70. That means the ski area is right against the Continental Divide and the runs tend to the steep side. Because of the elevation, this ski area opens early in the season and closes late.

The ski area is a combination of two area: Loveland Basin and Loveland Valley. The Basin is up the hill and holds all the advanced/expert runs. Most of the lifts serve the Basin as the Basin contains about 85% of all the runs. A large part of the Basin terrain is also above treeline. The Valley is down the hill and the slopes more gentle. The two areas were previously connected by a double chairlift but are now serviced by a bus system.

The main lodge (at the Basin) offers ticket sales, a retail area, rental and repair shop, lockers, nursery, ski patrol and administrative offices. SKI Magazine has rated the retail pro sports shop as one of the top 60 such stores in North America. The Loveland Valley lodge offers ticket sales, a cafeteria, bar, rental shop, lockers, ski school offices and a retail area.

If you need motel or hotel rooms, or a condo, resort or vacation home rental, best places to look are Keystone, Breckenridge, Dillon or Silverthorne.
