Coming to the top of this particular stretch of Phantom Canyon Road and the second big bridge. This bridge was made of steel and crossed the narrow but quite steep canyon above the streambed. Notice the differences in rock color and the pinnacles and spires of granite rising high above. With the changes of rock color come changes in the material composition of the granite. You'll notice the flat cleavage faces give way to more rounded faces of stone. And if you're one of those folks who worries about rockfall from the cliffs above, you just plain don't want to be on this road. |
