Phantom Canyon Road

Now we're starting to get into rock that looks like the glaciers worked it over pretty good. In some places they might call these walls "palisades." This rock doesn't look too layered, nor does it show the twists and bends in the grain that indicate great heat or pressure.

Ponderosas, lodgepole, fir, blue spruce... and some great granite spires. As much as I'd been led to believe this was great rock climbing country I didn't see a single soul working his/her way up any of these gorgeous faces. I'm not much of a rock climber myself but some of these walls almost had me breathing heavy... and I'm just like a kid: I want to see what's on the other side.
