Gold Belt Tour
Phantom Canyon Road Part 2

Phantom Canyon Road

This is just a bit further up the hill from the last page/photo. More palisades of granite surrounded by spruce, Ponderosa, aspen, lodgepole, and good clumps of Gambel oak and mountain mahogany. The grass is still good so this must be a reasonably wet area. This is the kind of place where I'd like to pull back into the trees and hang out for a few days, checking out the wildlife, the countryside and climbing on some of the rock. I'll bet the views up there are something else... This is somewhere around 9,000 feet in elevation, close to Nipple Mountain.
