Then you turn a slight curve and you're almost to the top. This is easily summer cattle country (look at that grass) but the elk and deer probably like it up here, too. And notice that there isn't nearly as much exposed granite any more, just a shelf and a few scattered outcroppings. Southern slope so Ponderosas, aspen, Douglas fir and some spruce, Gambel oak and mountain mahogany for underbrush. After all that rock this was a nice change. It almost feels like you've reached the mesa at the top of the cliffs...
