Gold Belt Tour
Phantom Canyon Road Part 2

Phantom Canyon Road

Looking back south, that might be Straub Mountain again but from the other side. I don't know if that's a cattle or a horse shed but check out the grass and the wildflowers. And lots of aspen around (must be around 10,000 feet in elevation here).

A little ways up the road from here Victor comes into view and you know you've made it back to... I'm not quite sure I can call it civilization any more. Of course, Victor is all Victorian design and construction so it's not this new-fangled stuff that's supposed to be better but doesn't last as long... and tends to be more expensive, too. But then when you look at Victor and see that huge pile of mine tailings above it... maybe I should have stayed back down in Phantom Canyon a little longer.

Anyway, I want to make a drive through Victor, then over to Cripple Creek, and then see if I can find this end of Shelf Road for my drive back towards home.
