Pillars and pinnacles of granite, even some gendarmes along the upper ridge. As much as this looks like climbing country, I'm still a couple miles north of the official Shelf Road Climbing Area. The road is still pretty wide with nothing scary happening. The aspens and spruce tell me I'm still above 8,000 feet and there's quite a bit of water down here in the bottom of the canyon. Every time I stop and get out of the car, I look around but see no evidence of big game in this canyon. There has to be something out here but, obviously, the local population is much less than the population I find down where I live. |
