Located on US Highway 95, Plummer is the largest town inside the Coeur d'Alene Indian Reservation. South of town is the Mary Minerva McCroskey State Park. McCroskey State Park is on land that one man was able to save from local timber interests 50 years ago. I'm sure he didn't make too many friends locally in those days because Plummer used to be much more dependent on timber and wood products than it is now. And when he went to donate the land to the State of Idaho (after he built the roads, the picnic areas, the viewpoints, etc.), the state was worried about the difference it would make if that land was removed from the tax rolls so they wouldn't accept the gift for 15 years...
