Blaine County is in north central Montana with Saskatchewan to the north. The southern boundary is against the Upper Missouri National Wild and Scenic River corridor. Bear Paw Battlefield of Nez Perce National Historic Park is here, as is most of the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation. Named for James G. Blaine, former US Secretary of State, Blaine County was formed in 1912 and contains 4,226 square miles of land and 13 square miles of water. The county seat is Chinook. |
