Belfry is now an agricutural community located almost exactly midway between Billings, Montana and Cody, Wyoming. The big products around here are cattle, sheep, alfalfa, feed corn and sugar beets. In the early 1900's, a railroad came through Belfry with a spur that ran to the coal mines around Bearcreek. Then when the coal mines shut down, the population in the whole area dropped off. |
