Brook Char Campground

Access: Brook Char Campground is in the Big Lake Recreation Area, about 25 miles south on State Road 273 from Springerville, AZ.

Elevation: 9,040'

Camping season is generally from mid-May through September.

Brook Char Campground has a paved access road through the campground with a central parking area. All the tent sites are walk-in. Brook Char is the closest campground to the lake shore. Expect rain, sometimes heavy, in July and August, and be prepared for cool to cold nights.

Facilities:

• 13 units, tents only, with fire rings, grills and picnic tables at each site
• Visitor's Center with scheduled programs
• Full service store at the lake
• Campground hosts on site
• Flush toilets, showers, drinking water and a dump station
• Interpretive nature trail and hiking/mountain biking trails
• Boat launch ramps

Other notes:

• There are no electric hookups
• Pets must be on a leash or otherwise restrained
• Camping is free after mid-October
