Crook Campground

Access: The Crook Campground is located just over 4 miles north of State Highway 260 via Forest Roads 300 and 105. The turn onto Forest Road 300 is 25 miles west of Heber, AZ, right across the highway from the Rim Visitor Information Station.

Elevation: 7,540'

Season generally starts around the first of May and runs to the end of October, depending on the weather.

The group camping sites here are limited to 110 persons and 26 vehicles max.

The campground is about 3/4 of a mile from Woods Canyon Lake (for fishing and boating - electric trolling motors only), and about 1/4 mile from the Rim Lakes Vista Trail (which offers spectacular views of the Mogollon Rim).

Facilities:

  • 26 family camping units for tents, trailers and motorhomes up to 32 feet long.
  • Campfire grills
  • Drinking water, toilets and garbage facilities
  • Campground Hosts on site.

Other notes:

  • Concessionaire operated with paved roads.
  • Campground is laid out in cul-de-sac design.
  • Parallel parking only
  • Gas, telephones, and groceries are available 9 miles east at Forest Lakes.
  • Groceries are also available at Woods Canyon Store.
  • The nearest full service community is Payson, 34 miles west via Hwy 260.
