Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest

Access: 27 miles south of Alpine on US Highway 191, past Hannagan Meadows Resort, there's a sign pointing east to the campground. Drive 1.3 miles down the access road and you'll be there. Elevation: 8,960' Camping season is from late spring into early fall. KP Cienega Campground sits in a mountain meadow surrounded by tall firs and Colorado Blue and Engelmann spruce trees. Lots of elk, mule deer and wild turkey, even a few black bears in the neighborhood. The campground is embedded in a large network of hiking trails, some of which lead into the Blue Range Primitive Area and the Bear Wallow Wilderness. Facilities:
