Access: On US Highway 180, go 5 miles east of Alpine, then turn north on Forest Road 570 just east of Luna Lake. The campground is about a mile down FR 570. Elevation: 7,960' Season generally runs from late spring to early fall. Fishing at Luna Lake is best early in the season: from ice-out in March until late in June. After that, the lake starts to draw down and get warm because the water is used for irrigation purposes. Luna Lake Campground is the largest campground in the Alpine District of Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests and sites are usually available even during the height of the summer season. The campground is sheltered in the Ponderosas but is bordered by open grasslands filled with wildflowers and frequented by wild turkeys, elk and other wildlife. The Blue Range Primitive Area is very close by, as is an extensive network of hiking and mountain biking trails. There is a large group site limited to 120 people with 30 vehicles. One smaller group site is limited to 56 people and 14 vehicles while another, smaller, group site is limited to 40 people and 10 vehicles. Facilities:
