Juniper Ridge Trail #640

Juniper Ridge Trail has a 7.2 mile short loop but the whole trail is 14 miles long. The trail is rated as difficult and sees light use between early spring and early winter.

Elevation: 6,370' to 6,998'

While Juniper Ridge Trail offers several good views of the surrounding areas (especially from the Juniper Ridge Lookout), the rocky trail and the heat can make this quite a challenge in the summer. During rainy season Mortensen Wash can be brutal to cross. Near the group campground at Lewis Canyon there is a connector that winds 12 miles to the west before it hooks up with the General Crook Trail. Visitors are usually welcome at the Juniper Ridge Lookout but during peak fire season, the lookouts may be too busy and you might be refused entry.

Access: Drive 2 miles west from downtown Show Low and turn right (north) on State Road 260. Go 9.9 miles, then turn left onto Old Highway 160. The trailhead is 2 miles down on the right. Along the way you'll pass the road to Juniper Ridge Lookout.
