Los Caballos Trail #638

At 14 miles (one way), Los Caballos is one of the longest trails in the White Mountain Trail System. The trail is rated as difficult and sees moderate use from early spring into early winter.

Los Caballos Trail winds most of its way through Ponderosa, pinon and juniper woodlands and offers several scenic views of the White Mountain Apache Reservation and the Mogollon Rim. The "Difficult" rating comes from both the length of the trail and from several steep, rocky sections. If you come prepared (with plenty of water, food and sunscreen), you'll have a good time. If not, this trail can make for a long, grueling and very unpleasant day.

Elevation: 6,300' to 6,940'
