Apache - Sitgreaves National Forest

North Fork KP Trail #93

This 2.4 mile trail is rated as moderate and sees light traffic from May through October, although cross-country skiers use it quite a bit when the snow flies. The North Fork KP Trail starts out in the conifers of the upland before heading down along the North Fork of KP Creek into a deep and narrow canyon. Be careful down here because there are some really large clumps of poison ivy along the streambed. The trail ends where it meets the KP Trail, about 10 yards upstream of a pair of 10-foot waterfalls where the North Fork and the South Fork merge and head further down the canyon. This is one of the most scenic places in the Blue Range Primitive Area so you might want to hang out a bit...

Primitive Area: no motorized or mechanized vehicles (mountain bikes included).

Elevation: 7,600' to 9,200'

Access: Go 25 miles south of Alpine on US 191 to the North Fork KP - KP Rim Trailhead. The trailhead is usually plowed in the winter, too.
