Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest
Tutt Creek Trail #105

This moderate rated trail is about 4.2 miles each way and sees moderate traffic year-round. The trail actually starts from the Blue River and goes uphill along a couple ridges and over a couple saddles. The vegetation is mostly junipers with cacti underneath. There's also a herd of Rocky Mountain Bighorn sheep in the area.

You'll get some big views on the ridge between Tutt and Foote Creeks before you drop down to the trail's end at the junction with Foote Creek Trail in Foote Creek Canyon. From here you can decide whether to go back the way you came, down the hill on Foote Creek Trail or take Foote Creek Trail up the hill and over the canyon rim to Hannagan Meadow, 11 miles and 3,000 feet in elevation away.

Tutt Creek Trail is in the Blue Range Primitive Area so motorized or mechanized vehicles (including mountain bikes) are not allowed. There are various creeks and Cleveland Spring in the area but the water is fit only for stock animals.

Elevation: 5,800' to 6,600'

Access: Go 14.5 miles south of Alpine on US 191 to Red Hill Road (Forest Road 567), then go east for 11 miles to a jeep trail that branches off to the right. This junction is about 1/2 mile before the Blue River. Another way is to go to the Blue River Road, go south to Forest Road 567 and then turn right for 1/2 mile to the same jeep trail.
