Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest
West Fork Trail #94

This trail runs 7 miles from Greer to Sheeps Crossing. Beyond Sheeps Crossing it goes into the Mt. Baldy Wilderness Area and mountain bikes, motorized vehicles and power equipment are not allowed. The trail is rated as moderately difficult and sees light use from May through October, depending on the weather.

Starting from the Osborne trailhead, you slowly go uphill as the trail follows a small creek through the Ponderosa's and aspens. Just past Badger Pond the trail splits and then merges again 1/4 mile later. Then begins a short but steep climb through rocky ground. When the trail levels off again you'll cross 2 dead-end roads that spur off of Forest Road 87. This is an area that you could reach by car and start your hike from here. From here to Sheeps Crossing, there's a dip to Potato Hollow Spring but most of the trail is fairly level. Just before Sheeps Crossing the trail crosses State Road 273, a graveled and busy road. From there, you'll follow an old railroad bed to the parking area on the ridge above Sheeps Crossing. At that parking area is where the trail begins its journey into the Mt. Baldy Wilderness.
