Woodland Lake Park Trails

The Woodland Lake Loop Trail is an easy-to-moderate, 1.25 mile long paved trail that sees heavy use in all seasons.

Elevation: 6,950'

Woodland Lake Park has several short, interconnected trails. The Lake Loop Trail is the paved one while other trails are gravelled and lead to other destinations (the Hitching Post Loop is a 2 mile loop while another trail leads to the Big Springs Environmental Study Area). Part of the Lake Loop was originally the Walnut Creek Trail, first developed in 1967 at the very beginning of the Lakeside District's visitor information program. Today, some of the horse trails in the park are more clearly marked than the old nature trail. This is an area where several small springs bubble to the surface beneath large black walnut trees.

Access: Take State Road 260 south through Lakeside, past the Blue Ridge Schools, and turn right on Woodland Lake Road. Turn into Woodland Lake Park and go to the turnaround near the fishing pier. You'll find trail signs there.
