Camino Real Ranger District
Follow State Road 518 about 4 miles south of Taos. The trailhead is on the east side of the road. For about 1/4 mile, the trail follows a steep drainage before makinmg a sharp right turn onto an old forest road that crosses several drainages. You'll cross from pinon/juniper forest into Ponderosa/oak and then back again along the way. There's also some great views of Jicarita Peak through here. This trail is about 6 miles long, each way.
