The 10.4 mile Cisneros Trail is rated as moderately difficult. It sees most use in the summer and fall.
Access: 2 trailheads: one at the west end of the campgrounds at Lake Isabel (in the Wet Mountains), the other off of FR 369 (the Greenhorn Mountain Road). Notes: This trail rises from Lake Isabel into the heart of the Wet Mountains. Gorgeous country alternating between heavy forest and open parks. Lots of wildlife, great wildflowers, the thunderstorm season can be really heavy here. About 3/4 miles in from the Lake Isabel Campgrounds is a trail junction with the St. Charles Trail. St. Charles Trail will take you north onto St. Charles Peak (11,784') while the Cisneros Trail turns left and heads southwest towards Greenhorn Mountain (12,347'). USGS Maps: San Isabel |
