The Grizzly Lake Trail is 2.6 miles of "difficult" rated trail for hikers and off-highway vehicles, mostly used in the summer and fall.
Access: From Nathrop, go west on County Road 162 to the Grizzly Gulch parking area (about 16 miles). Just after the parking area is the junction with County Road 295 (heading south) to Hancock. Go down CR 295 about a quarter mile to Forest Road 296. Turn left onto FR 296, cross a bit of private property and then enjoy the next 2.6 miles of "difficult" 4WD road to Grizzly Lake. The brook trout in the lake and beaver ponds along the way are hungry and abundant. Be aware of the private property: access to this road is at their discretion... USGS Maps: St. Elmo |
