This moderate 2.1 mile trail in the northern Wet Mountains sees most of its traffic in the summer and fall.
Access: One trailhead is at Locke Park on Forest Road #274. The other trailhead is at the Oak Creek Campground on County Road 143 (Oak Creek Grade), south of Canon City. Notes: This is a very rugged area with lots of great rock formations and incredible views. Coming out of Oak Creek Campground, the trail follows an old road going south, up through Lion Canyon, before turning east and crossing the ridge that is Locke Mountain. The trail ends at the intersection with FR 274 in Locke Park. USGS Maps: Curley Peak, Rockvale |
