Churchill County is in west central Nevada. The Stillwater and Fallon National Wildlife Refuges are here. The county was named for a hero of the Mexican-American War: Brevet Brigadier General Sylvester Churchill (1783-1862). There's 4,929 square miles of agricultural land, desert, mountains and valleys in Churchill County, plus another 94 square miles of water. Also in Churchill County is the Fallon Naval Air Station, home of the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center and TOPGUN. The county seat is Fallon.
