Glendo is located in northern Platte County on the North Platte River. Nearby is Glendo State Park on Glendo Reservoir, an extremely popular state park with campgrounds, hiking trails, a marina and swimming beaches. Another close-by recreation area is around Laramie Peak in Medicine Bow National Forest. The Oregon, California and Mormon Pioneer Trails and the Overland Stage Route passed through this area. Glendo started out on the site of the old Horseshoe Stage Station, then Glendo became a railroad section point on the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad. |
