Clearmont, Wyoming

A typical view in the Clearmont area

Clearmont is a small town about 45 miles southeast of Sheridan. While the town has a clear view of the Big Horn Mountains, the name seems to also come from Clear Creek, a stream that drains the area.
The main interests of the local folks are cattle ranching and hay farming.
Clearmont is also home of The Ranch at UCross, a guest ranch that used to be home of the UCross Foundation (a major supporter of the visual arts and a major reason as to why there are so many artists, sculptors, writers and craftsmen in the area). The Ranch is now owned by Blair Hotels of Cody, Wyoming and is operated as a conference center/retreat in the winter and guest ranch/vacation paradise in the summer.
Clearmont is in an area of abundant wildlife and excellent fishing opportunities. Clear Creek is large enough to offer tubing opportunities but most visitors come to avail themselves of the excellent outfitters and hunting guides in the area.
