For most of its 48 miles, the Tse'nikani-Flat Mesa Rock Scenic Road travels through the Chinle Wash between Mexican Water and Many Farms. This is in the heart of the Navajo Nation's piece of Red Rock Country: absolutely beautiful, but stark, other-worldly landscapes, and don't be expecting much in terms of amenities out here. You can get food and gas in Mexican Water and again in Chinle... in between is a large variety of multi-colored sandstone cliffs, walls, canyons, pillars, cones, hoodoos... and hardly any people. While driving this road, you will be required to run on Reservation time for the duration. |
