Fort Morgan, Colorado

Fort Morgan is another of those towns that began life on the Great Plains next to the South Platte River as a military fort back in the days of the Overland Trail and the Indian Wars. Settlers arrived in the area in the 1860's and shortly thereafter, the fort was decommissioned. For sci-fi fans, Fort Morgan is the burial place of Philip K. Dick. For Big Band music fans, Fort Morgan was the home town of Glenn Miller, famous for Glenn Miller and His Big Band. His son is Steve Miller, of rock music fame. The big business in Fort Morgan these days is meat packing.
