Marshall Mountain Wilderness Study Area

The Marshall Mountain Wilderness Study Area is a 5,804-acre property located about 22 miles due east of Riggins, Idaho. This is a rugged, mountainous landscape where elevations range from a low of 3,600 feet at Long Tom Creek to a high above 8,400 feet on the summit of Marshall Mountain. The forest is mostly mixed conifers and tends to be very dense, broken only by occasional rock outcroppings and talus slopes beneath the peaks.

This property seems to be surrounded by Payette National Forest and all the streams here flow through sections of the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness to find the Salmon River. As the BLM has formally supported none of this property for full wilderness designation, I wouldn't expect things to change much here, unless the land gets transferred to the National Forest Service, in which case it will probably get logged...
