Mina, Nevada |
Mina is a small, former railroad/mining unincorporated community on US 95 about 34 miles southeast of Hawthorne. At one time, a branch of the Southern Pacific Railroad ran through Mina but that is long gone now. But in those days, the train ran so slowly that hunters were known to shoot wild game from on top of the railroad cars and through the open windows, and have time to retrieve the game and hop back on board. These days, this is mainly an agricultural/ranching area with only a bit of mining still going on. |
