Glendo State Park is located on Glendo Reservoir, a large impoundment on the North Platte River in southeastern Wyoming. This is one of Wyoming's most popular boating and fishing spots (the fishing is so good that Glendo holds several state fishing records). The park offers day-use areas and developed campgrounds. There is also a commercial concession on the lake offering fishing equipment, motel units and complete marina services.
Red Hills and Waters Point: These camping areas have some shade trees and offer close access to the lake on a rock and gravel shoreline with a protected bay for tying up boats. The two campgrounds contain about 45 camping sites between them.
Reno Cove: There are about 30 campsites here with a few shade trees, close access to the lake on a rock and mud shoreline, a boat launching area and a protected bay for tying up boats.
Soldier Rock, Colter Bay and Custer Cove: Among these spots are about 40 campsites, some with fair protection from the wind. The camping areas have some shade trees and offer close access to lake on a rock and mud shoreline with a protected bay for tying up boats.
Sagebrush and Whiskey Gulch: These are large camping areas with about 100 campsites between them. They are on the south side of a large bay with good access to the shoreline of mud and gravel. This is a grassy area with shade trees, good protection from the wind and some protected areas for tying up boats.
Two Moon: The largest and best camping area, with many pine trees for shade and wind protection, is located on a bluff overlooking the lake. There are paved roads through the area but none of the 200 campsites has foot access to the shoreline.
Sandy Beach: Another large camping area with many trees and two miles of sandy beach ideal for sunning, swimming and waterskiing. However, no vehicles are allowed on the beach. The campgrounds were completely renovated in 2005-2007, making room for hundreds of people. There are a limited number of campsites available for reservation.
Elk Horn: This is a limited use area because of receding water levels in mid-summer. There are about 20 camping spaces with some shade trees giving close access to the lake with a mud shoreline. The boat ramp is usually unusable by early July.
Glendo State Park can be reached via the I-25 to exit 108, then State Road 319 to State Road 270.
