Golden Gate Canyon State Park
Golden Gate Canyon State Park encompasses more than 12,000 acres of aspen-rimmed meadows and dense forest with rocky peaks rising above. Only 30 miles from Denver, Golden Gate Canyon State Park offers miles of trails for hikers, mountain bikers, horseback riders, snowshoers and cross-country skiers. At Panorama Point Scenic Overlook you can see up to 100 miles of the Continental Divide. With several picnic sites, stocked fishing ponds and 2 different campgrounds with electrical hook-ups and tent-only sites, there's something for everyone at Golden Gate Canyon State Park. There are also several group facilities available for hosting company picnics, family reunions and weddings. If camping isn't your thing, there are also 5 cabins, 2 yurts and several guest houses available. Winter sees quite a few ice skaters and ice fishermen on the property, and year-round camping is available at the Reverend's Ridge Campground.
Day use vehicle passes cost $7, or you can buy the annual Colorado State Parks pass for $70. Primitive backcountry campsites run $12 per night while developed tent campsites cost $18 per night. Electric hook-up campsites are available at $22 per night. (Subtract $2 per night from all camping fees when camping between October 1 and April 30.) The Red Barn Group Picnic Area costs $150 Monday through Friday and $200 on the weekends (plus a $10 reservation fee always). The Panorama Point Special Event Site costs $150 Monday through Friday and $300 on the weekends (plus the $10 reservation fee). The cabins and yurts cost $70 per night, with pet fees of $10 per night. The Columbine Conference Room rents for $100 per day plus $10 reservation fee.
